Costa Calida and Costa Almeria

These two beautiful Costas are fringed by miles of unspoilt beaches and lie in the south-east corner of Spain’s Mediterranean coast. Principally an agricultural area the Costas remain untouched by tourism and mass development and retain their typical Spanish charm.

This stunningly beautiful area is easily accessible to three international airports: Almeria, Murcia (San Javier) and Alicante, all reached via an excellent road system which remains uncrowned all year round.

Costa Calida

The Costa Calida is to the south of the Costa Blanca and is in the province of Murcia, 1 hour and 10 minutes south from Alicante but close to Murcia airport. Here you enjoy the best of both worlds the Garden of Spain and some of the finest unpolluted seas and unspoilt beaches in Europe it bolts onto the back of the Blanca's EEC Blue Flag Award.

Mazarron

Called the "Pearl of the Costa Calida", Mazarron is a place where tranquillity still predominates. It is billed as one of the healthiest places in Europe to live. Due to it's location it has its own favourable micro-climate - the village is surrounded by high mountains that shield it from strong winds and it enjoys gentle sea breezes instead.

Boasting some of the best beaches in Spain the area is relatively undeveloped compared to the more popular Spanish coasts. An ideal location for a peaceful stay. It is therefore not overcome with local bars and restaurants, though these can be found in Puerto de Mazarron and around the golf course.

Mazarron Bay boasts over 35 Km of unspoilt coastline, made up of small inlets, coves and sandy beaches. The waters are wonderfully unpolluted and perfect for subaqua activities, with clear views of Mediterranean flora and fauna such as sea bass, moray and moonfish.

Calabardina

A paradise of coves, Calabardina is situated just down the coast from Mazarron, approximately 2km north of Aguilas. A natural, stunning area of coves, beaches, scenery, villages and lovely seafront restaurants, with the Mediterranean sea to one side and an ever changing mountain scenery on the other.

Calabardina is one of the most natural, unspoilt areas in the region; an absolute delight.

Calabardina beach holds a Blue Flag award and has excellent access. You can practice diving, fishing and sailing and the ancient pier is used by small boats and the diving clubs.

Aguilas

Bathed by the Mediterranean Sea along 28 kms of beautiful coastline, Aguilas has a rich, clean and natural environment.

The town is a truly Spanish one, away from the hustle and bustle of modern tourism, but offering excellent shopping facilities, a lively harbour, marina and fishing port. Beautiful sandy beaches surround the town and the weekly market is the best in the area. Aguilas is the most famous in Spain for the colourful Mardi Gras Fiesta, with celebrations lasting well over a week each year. With an exceptional climate of its own the average temperature is 25%C making it a wonderful place to escape from the long winters of the UK.

San Juan de los Terreros

Just a few kilometres along the coast south of Aguilas lies this idyllic area nestling between the hills and the sandy beaches fringing the Mediterranean. With a handful of restaurants, bars and shops San Juan has been a favourite holiday destination for discerning Spanish people seeking a peaceful and tranquil beach location.

Costa de Almeria

Further south of the Costa Calida lies this fascinating area, the most easterly coastline of the province of Andalucia. Costa de Almeria is a land of contrasts ranging from the secluded coves of the Cabo de Gata National Park, the long golden sandy beaches of Puerto Rey and Vera Playa, the whitewashed Moorish hillside village of Mojacar, the gentle green sloping valleys of Cortijo Grande and the acrid desert landscape of the Tabernas and Almanzora region. All these characteristics have resulted in Almeria becoming one of the the most varied provinces in Spain, and seemingly one of Spain’s “best kept secrets”.

Almeria

From the 23rd August to the 1st September Almeria celebrates its fair in honour of Our Lady of the Sea, with open air dances, sports competitions, the traditional Flamenco Festival in the Plaza Vieja, fun guaranteed into the early hours of the morning.

Almeria's climate is subtropical, Mediterranean, warm and dry and holds the title of being the Andalucian city with the most hours of sun a year, a total of over 3,000. It also has many coastal resorts for you to choose from for your holiday destination.

Mojacar

Mojacar Pueblo is one of the oldest villages in Spain; traditionally Moorish in style the Pueblo with its narrow winding streets nestles into the hillside with breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside and the coastline. Mojacar Playa is a three mile stretch of coastline extending from the Cabo de gata National Park to the fishing town of Garrucha. The Playa offers a wealth of hotels, shops, restaurants and golf course at Marina de la Torre. Mojacar has always been a popular location for the British and has a good British community.

Garrucha

A typically Spanish town with a deeply-rooted seafaring history, noted for its “Sol y Gambas” – sunshine and seafood (prawns). The bustling fishing port provides the area with an abundance of fresh fish and seafood and Garrucha is well known for the many fish restaurants that surround the port and line the charming promenade.

Puerto Rey and Vera Playa

Bordered by miles of unspoilt sandy beaches, this area is a must for all beach lovers. With a good selection of local shops, supermarkets and restaurants, Garrucha is just a 10 minute stroll along the promenade. A short drive inland reveals the towns/villages of Vera and Turre with a good selection of shops and – of course the ever popular weekly markets!
